| well the summer is almost over. i leave this wondful city in 13 days. i think thats right. something close to that anyway. i can't believe its coming so soon. this has been such an amazing summer. i think that moving away from home and going to a place where i didn't know anyone (except for some distant relatives that before coming here i'd only seen once in my entire life) was a good and healty experience. of course i did have penny (my cat, for those of you who forgot) and she has kept me company. but being on my own like this has taught me alot and made me grow as a person. it is nice to know that i can do it - that i can be brave and move away from everything that i know to a place that is unfamiliar. i think it makes me feel more grown up. this is the first thing i've really done independent of anyone else. it feels good.
work is still going well. the girls are beautiful and i will miss them. sometimes they're hard to deal with but that is to be expected. alot of them have had rough lives and it would be very niave of me to assume that they wouldn't be hardened and cynical. covenant house has been a really good experience for me and i'm glad that i did it. i also have been reassured that i am in the right field and that i haven't screwed up my life by picking the wrong major and seeing how i'm going to be a senior in college, that is a very c omforting bit of knowlege.
i suppose thats all for now. i'm sitting by a window and the sun is shining in and its really hot. it is very hot here right now. record highs. for those of us without air conditioning, it sucks. but i will survive. its suppose to cool down tomorrow. |

| its been awhile. life is good, work is interesting, and new york is still standing. i miss my lovely friends and family though. so if you are one of the aformentioned people - i miss you. and if you don't fall into either of those two catagories, i'm sure i'd miss you if i knew you. saw a really great musican on thursday named ashley jones. you should check_her_out. i'm currently sitting in my room on my bed and my cuty cat penny is sleeping/pretending that she's asleep. it varies. i'm not sure if i posted this or not but last weekend i saw Dr. Billy Graham speak in queens. it was really amazing. i have a great deal of respect for that man. he's actually one of the few evangelists that i do respect. i saw him on saturday and you won't believe who was sitting on stage listening to him - President and Hillary Clinton. Bill spoke a little before Dr. Graham. Wow - that man has charisma. Dr. Graham said that he told Bill once that he could be an evanglist - he's got all the gifts. actually the first time clinton saw dr. graham was when he was a teenager living in arkansas. apparently they (they being whoever is in charge of getting dr. graham to come) were wanting him to come but they were going to have him speak in front of a segregated audience and dr. graham said that he refused to come unless it was open to everyone. he said that all people were created equal and that God loves all mankind.
so yes - thats a little update concerning my life. if you want more information - you're going to have to leave me comments. thats right - leave me love! and i'll be happy to field any further questions. |

work is great. i'm learning alot and really enjoying it. and this city....this city is amazing. i was walking from work to the subway tonight (i work until 10pm two nights a week) and i was going "wow- this place is so amazing at night." i love the lights and the excitment and people rushing around. plus all the great gluten-free food. oh - last sunday i went with riley (one of the room mates) to go hear his friend play at this little resturant/bar/club place. she was really good. and i loved the band that went on before her. alina plays every sunday so i may go hear her again. and brian bonz is playing again on tuesday. you should all check out their/his site. brianbonz.com. i love new music. la de da, life is good. i found this cool church and so thats nice. still trying to make friends. thats taking some time. but it will come, it will come. anyway i've got to be at work at 9am so i think i'm gonna crash. night all. |
